You should always apply to as many funding opportunities as you are able. This doesn’t just enable better research, it also looks great on your CV!

FUNDING:

Internal
Research and Creative Opportunities Grant Program for WWU Graduate Students: 
This program provides grants of up to $1,500 to support graduate students engaged in research/scholarly/creative work with faculty. Deadline: The Office of Research and Sponsored Programs (RSP) solicits proposals three times a year, fall, winter, and spring quarters. The grant period is 12 months and funds become available immediately upon award notification.

Research and Creative Opportunities Grant Program for WWU Undergraduate Students: This program provides grants of up to $750 to support undergraduate students engaged in research/scholarly/creative work with faculty. The Undergraduate Committee of the Research and Creative Activities Council reviews all proposals and makes funding recommendations to the Vice Provost for Research.

The Ross Travel Grant supports WWU graduate student travel for the following purposes: to present papers at professional meetings and conferences, to exhibit works of art at national and international showings, and to perform, direct or produce within professional performing arts venues. $500. Deadline: rolling.

You should fill out your FAFSA as soon as possible on or after October 1st to secure financial aid for the upcoming academic year.

Research Funding:

Jacobs Research Funds – The Jacobs Research Funds (JRF) and the Kinkade Language and Culture Fund (KLF) are sister organizations that fund linguistic and anthropological research on aboriginal peoples of North and South America. The JRF accepts proposals on behalf of both organizations. Priority is given to research on the Pacific Northwest. However, research in other areas of the Americas will be funded if possible. The JRF is affiliated with the Whatcom Museum in Bellingham, Washington.

Lambda Alpha National Anthropology Honor Society Scholarship Award – Up to $5,000 for undergraduates wishing to pursue a career in anthropology. Deadline: March 1, 2024.
